Both put a website on the internet. The difference is who does the building — you, in an editor, or the thing you are talking to.
Wix is a drag-and-drop editor with a very large template library and an app market on top of it. You pick a template, then you move things around until it looks like your business. It is capable, it is popular, and roughly two hundred million sites have been made with it.
The cost is your evenings. A Wix site that looks like the template took an hour; a Wix site that looks like your business took a weekend, and the second weekend is the one people do not finish. Sonara removes the editor entirely: you describe the business, it builds the site, and you change it by asking rather than by dragging.

When Wix is the better buy
If you want to place every element yourself and you enjoy doing it, Wix is built for exactly that and we are not. There is no canvas in Sonara, no drag handles, and no way to nudge a button four pixels left because you felt like it.
If you are running a real online shop — inventory, variants, shipping rules, a proper checkout — Wix's commerce tooling is years deeper than ours. We build the website a business is found on and booked through, not a storefront.
And if you have already built a Wix site you are happy with, there is no argument here. Keep it.
If you are already on Wix
You cannot export a Wix site — that is a real cost of having built one, and it is the same on every plan. What you can do is rebuild it in minutes rather than another weekend: paste your Wix address into Sonara and it reads your pages, your services and your copy off the live site to start from.
Keep your domain. If you bought it through Wix you can transfer it out or just repoint it, and your address stays exactly what your customers already know.

Is Sonara cheaper than Wix?
Yes at the entry level. The cheapest Wix plan that removes their ads and lets you use your own domain is Light at $17 a month billed yearly. Sonara's equivalent is $9 a month billed yearly, and bookings are included rather than gated behind a higher plan. Both have a free plan; Sonara's does not put ads on your pages.
Can I move my Wix website to Sonara?
You cannot export a Wix site — no plan allows it — so nothing is literally transferred. What you can do is paste your Wix address into Sonara and have it read your live pages, services, hours and copy to build the new site from. It takes minutes, and you keep your domain.
Does Sonara have templates like Wix?
No, deliberately. Every Sonara site is designed for the business it belongs to — the colours, spacing, type and page structure are all decided per site rather than chosen from a gallery. That is why two Sonara sites do not look like the same template with different photos.
