Squarespace makes a beautiful website if you are willing to make it. Sonara makes one for you and lets you change it by asking.
Squarespace is the best-looking website builder there is, and that is not a small thing — their templates are genuinely well designed, and a site built on one looks composed in a way most small-business websites do not. If design is the thing you are worried about, they earned their reputation.
Two things follow from how it works. You still have to build it, page by page, in their editor. And there is no free plan — the trial is fourteen days, after which it is $19 a month or the site comes down. Sonara builds the first version for you, and the free plan is a plan rather than a countdown.

Squarespace prices checked on 4 August 2026 against their own pricing page, at the annual billing rate. They change them; we are not told when. Check before you buy.
When Squarespace is the better buy
If the look is the product — you are a photographer, a designer, a restaurant selling an atmosphere — spend an afternoon in a Squarespace template and you will get something lovely. Their design floor is higher than almost anyone's, ours included on the days our design lands conservatively.
If you sell physical products with inventory and shipping, their commerce is a real store and ours is not.
And if you actively want to lay out your own pages, Squarespace's editor is a pleasant place to do it. Sonara has nowhere for you to do that at all.
If you are already on Squarespace
Squarespace's export gives you your pages and blog posts as text. Your design and your scheduling do not come with it. In practice the fastest route across is to paste your Squarespace address into Sonara and let it read the live site — copy, services, hours and all — and rebuild from that.
If you bought your domain through Squarespace you can transfer it out or point it at your new site. Do that before you cancel, not after.

Does Squarespace have a free plan?
No. Squarespace offers a 14-day free trial, after which the cheapest plan is Basic at $19 a month billed annually ($25 month to month) or the site is taken down. Sonara's free plan has no time limit — one live website, on the internet, taking bookings, for nothing.
How much does Squarespace really cost with bookings?
Squarespace Scheduling is a separate subscription starting around $16 a month, so a Basic plan with appointments is roughly $35 a month before the domain renews in year two. Sonara includes bookings on every plan, including the free one.
Can I move my Squarespace site to Sonara?
Yes, though not as a file transfer. Squarespace's export gives you the words from your pages and posts and leaves the design and any scheduling behind. Paste your Squarespace address into Sonara instead and it reads the live site to build from — usually a better result than importing a stripped-down export, and it takes minutes.
